Candice Quinn Kelly on Facebook

February 18th, 2010 by .:|Heather|:. · 5 Comments

This morning I "became a fan" of the Facebook group "Elect Candice Quinn Kelly" and upon seeing this my friend Brian  (Shedman here on the cafe) asked, "Is she a Democrat now?"

Hey Brian, were you saying I would only support a dem?  Hmmmm?

Anyway, there was then some discussion about why she changed parties.

Did she change parties simply because being elected as a dem is much easier in Chuck County?

I don't know.  And I don't know if that matters as long as she says what she plans on doing, it's the truth and then she does it. She may be a very conservative D or a very liberal R. In which case, it's smart to register as a D if she still aligns with D values, but can't get elected as an R around here. Makes sense. I am not totally a D even though I am quite liberal. It's not her fault it's a two party system – that is just the way it is.

"It's a two party system."

No, I wasn’t saying that. I had just thought I remembered hearing that she switched. I don’t think it matters much which party one belongs to any longer. I pretty much think most of them on both sides are full of shit. For the few who pay attention, it could look like she has no real core beliefs and just does whatever she thinks is expedient. (Although, switching hasn’t helped her win in the past. It could also point to a lack of judgement on her part as she seems always to choose poorly). But I don’t think most people pay much attention anyway so it probably won’t make much difference in the end.

Brian – you are always so positive! :)

I really don’t know if she’s “full of shit” or not.

Unfortunately the only way you can ever tell if a politican is full of shit is to elect them and see if they do a good job. By then it’s too late if they don’t have integrity.

I get frustrated no matter who is in office at SOMETHING – simply because I will never agree with everything another person does. I think that’s pretty normal. I guess the most important thing is if they just do what they say they are going to do.

I’m not saying she specifically is full of shit (I’m not she’s not either)…just that most of them are…from dog catcher to President.

I don’t personally view it as a positive/negative thing…just an observation as to the way things are. It’s liking looking at the weather and saying it’s snowing. Although many listening to the weatherman may view that in a negative way, it doesn’t make the weatherman negative for saying that it is so.

And the sound of one politician’s hand clapping!

“I’m not saying she specifically is full of shit…just that most of them are, from dog catcher to President.”

First, let me say that the “dog catchers” I have encountered in Charles County try very hard to do their jobs well. They care about the animals, AND they care about the pet owners (even when they shouldn’t). It is my firm opinion, though, that Mr. Edward Tucker, Chief of Animal Control Services (Charles County) should be run out of town on a rail. I have determined from personal experience that the right and wrong of an animal control incident – for him — is determined by politics and “connections.”

As for Ms. Candice Quinn Kelly, I know two people who have relied on her to do her job – and she failed them miserably. Because I know and respect the two individuals, and I know the circumstances of each “failure,” I’m not inclined to vote for her.

I’ve followed Wayne Cooper’s political career for years. It continues to shock me that he has one.

Just to throw it out there – the only other CC politician who comes to mind who flip-flopped his political affiliations was Marland Deen.

I wish it were easy to tell whether a person on the ballot has integrity.
