In the movie Little Miss Sunshine the teen son has taken a vow of silence and indicates to a poster of Nietzsche.
Does anybody know the link between his vow of silence and Nietzsche? It's over my head.

I can’t find anything. Apparently a lot of people have asked the same question to no avail.

I don’t see a connection between Nietzsche and the boy’s vow of silence. It may have something to do with man-of-action and the paradox which oppresses the boy: he loves and hates his family, himself, the yellow van in which he’s trapped … and words aren’t enough to explain his condition … he moves forward in silence until he reaches his goal. I only saw the movie once. I’m pullin’ this outta my ass.
